The secret behind the legendary coolness of the Cucumber is all that water it holds. If you’re out to beat the heat this summer make sure you stay hydrated. No, I don’t mean ‘drink enough water’. Of course, you should do that, but you should also make sure to keep your skin hydrated. My top tips for this season are:
Go Gulabri
Rose water contains antioxidants that help keep your skin healthy by protecting against cell damage. Its fragrance is also known to have a relaxing effect. Carry a handy spray of rosewater and use it on you face and palms a few times a day. Rose water is an excellent cleanser too, so you don’t have to worry about using too much of it.
Use hydrating Primer
It’s no coincidence that ‘bare looks’ trend in summers. But all of us know that even a decent bare look takes some amount of make-up. If you’re using a Primer make sure you’ve got a hydrating one this season. Some make up products tend to be dry and can end up looking cakey at the end of a hot day.
Don’t step out without sunscreen
Ozone depletion is a scientifically acknowledged reality. Until we find a more sustainable solution to the problem, sunscreen is our best hope. On a more serious note though, sunscreen helps prevent sun damage, early skin aging and skin cancer by protecting your skin against UV rays. Sunscreens with SPF 15 are good for daily use if you’re spending a short duration of time outdoors. If you’re likely to be out all day, use SPF 30 or higher. Keep in mind that when SPF numbers increase above 50, the protection in turn increases very marginally. You don’t want to be buying an overpriced product that offer barely any incremental benefits. And if you hate heavy sunscreen, you’d be happy to know that hydrating sunscreens are much lighter on the skin and come with the benefit of keeping it fresh.
Sun damage is easy to prevent but could come with a heavy cost if not paid heed to. Remember, keeping your skin healthy is as important as working out or eating right.
